NLP is quite a common acronym today. It has over a dozen meanings ranging from: two in science and technology, two in medicine and biology, and eight organization names. For this articles, we are interested in NLP in the context of communications and psychotherapy.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) was originated by two men, who were studying how to most-effectively master the use of human communication to produce results in other human beings. The two men were Dr. John Grinder–a linguist and Richard Bandler–a Gestalt therapist and a computer expert. Together they worked to create a system that helped people overcome their self-perceived problems. For almost forty years, their work has been extended further by the others who have made it the powerful tool that it is today.

NLP uses (among others) techniques called Modeling and Mental Syntax to work its “magic”–making possible the harnessing of more of the human brain’s potential. NLP has worked wonders by making people achieve what they originally thought to be beyond their capability.

Using forms of NLP the power of stronger persuasion has been made possible. Through it, different methods are have recently been brought to fore for our use in creating hypnotic words and phrases in our ad copywriting.

Integrate NLP into our marketing initiatives. Four methods are discussed in turn and explained for your consideration.

Embedded Commands

This is the use of inserted phrases which effect a subconscious command to take certain action. The command is integrated into a harmless-looking sentence; one which looks ordinary enough to pass on as– just another part of any web copy.

Look at this simple example: I wonder how quickly you are going to say yes to this offer.

The forgoing looks like another ordinary sentence which will hardly stand out when placed together with others in a copy. Easy to pass up as a simple sentence of conjecture. But do you see the command contained on it? “Say yes to this offer” is the hypnotic embedded command.

In web copy, the common procedure is to use boldface type for the command. Other options could be to use a different color or italics to make it stand out from the remaining copy. The following is how our example looks as it occurs together with other phrases and sentences. I wonder how quickly you are going to say yes to this offer. See how it stands out and creates its hypnotic spell without you knowing it. Pretty soon you will indeed– say yes to this offer.
